In the course a detailed survey of information systems is provided. It presents conceptual, theoretical, historical, social, and economic, issues surrounding the development, deployment and management of dominant information systems technologies. Topics covered include: information systems architectures, database management systems, transaction processing, ecommerce, telecommunications, software and hardware standards, Internet/Web-based systems, data warehousing, data mining, agent-based systems, and social impacts of information systems.
